Complain Free Challenge!
Not too long ago I heard about a church that decided it was time to go "Complaint Free." So they began the "Complaint Free Challenge." On their web site they explain...
"Your thoughts create your world and your words indicate your thoughts. When you eliminate complaining from your life you will enjoy happier relationships, better health and greater prosperity. The Complaint Free program helps you set a trap for your own negativity and redirect your mind towards a more positive and rewarding life." www.acomplaintfreeworld.org
The world is full of complaining people, and we believe Christians ought to be a little different. In Pastor Ed's blog, due out the week of June 9th, he talks about becoming a complaint free church.
Starting July 1st we are going to start handing out "Complaint Free Bracelets" for those who are willing to begin changing the old habit of complaining to a new habit of spreading positive words of encouragment and hope.
Join us at Church of the Savior for the Complaint Free Challenge.
Take the Total HEALTH Fitness Challenge!
Body + Mind + Spirit = Total Wellness
Regardless of your age or level of abilities, or even disabilities, we can all be working toward a more fit and holistic lifestyle.
Working toward a fit body, mind and spirit brings a level of wholeness to our lives that has many benefits. I think that many people know this, but the hard part is actually doing the work.
We know we should increase our fitness level, exercise our mind and develop our spiritual life but we find it difficult to do on a regular basis. Life is full as it is and it is hard making time to do these things, but if we don't make the time we can't totally enjoy the full life we live.
Here at Church of the Savior we believe in the body, mind, spirit connection and the importance these three components play in bringing wholeness and total wellness into our lives. To help you improve your overall fitness level (body, mind and spirit) we are offering YOU an opportunity to join in the health fitness challenge.
The health fitness challenge will take place for a total of 12 weeks. When you call the church office to register (330-455-0153) you will be given informaiton about the starting date, time and place for the team sessions.
During that time you will be part of a Health Fitness Team (HFT). The HFT is a weekly accountability group that will be supportive as well as provide opportunities to learn more about issues regarding body, mind and spirit.
Weight loss is not the main goal...learning how to create and live a total wellness plan is the goal...however, if you want to lose weight that certainly can part of your personalized fitness plan you will develop with your HFT.
Your personalized health fitness plan will involve exercise, prayer, bible study and intellectual (mind) development activities.
If you find it difficult to stay focused for any length of time in any of these areas please consider joining the health fitness challenge as Church of the Savior makes a commitment to living a more holistic life...body, mind and spirit. Sign up over the next two weeks! Do it now!

Pastor Ed Preaching Two Different Sermons Each Sunday
With two services, one right after the other, Pastor Ed had to make a choice to either preach the same sermon or to offer something entirely different. There were certainly pros and cons to consider, but he decided to offer a different message for each service.
At the traditional worship (9:45) service Pastor Ed is preaching a series on the Fruit of the Spirit called “Fruit Inspection.” During this series we will learn how to “Inspect” the spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:16-26) in our lives.
At Emergence 120 (11:15) Pastor Ed is preaching a sermon series called “Breaking Down the Walls.” In this series we will look at how to break through the barriers that keep us from fully experiencing the presence of God in our life to allow us reach our fullest potential.
Sermon Series for Emergence 120 Worship
Pastor Ed is preaching different sermons at each service (pray for him!). This week we begin our new service with a sermon based on our new motto "Perfect People NOT Allowed."
Next week Pastor Ed begins a series on how we can BREAK down walls in our life that keep us from becoming all that God calls us to be.
New Sermon Series for Traditional Service
Starting this Sunday Pastor Ed begins a new series on the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5...Read the chapter, pray for the series and be open to how God is calling you to produce good fruit.
We will examine the good fruit of the Spirit and we will also look at how God calls us to be fruit inspectors of our own life. You don't want to miss this series.

Jeri Johnson has call to ministry affirmed by Charge Conference!
At a special meeting of the Charge Conference, the official governing body of Church of the Savior, Jeri Johnson's call to ministry was unanimously affirmed.
As part of the process into ministry a candidate first needs to be affirmed by the local church staff parish relations committee (SPRC). January 8th Jeri met with the SPRC (Jean Thompson, Chair) and shared her call and passion for ministry. The SPRC asked Jeri several important questions taking their charge to affirm her candidacy very seriously. When a vote was called for they unanimously affirmed her call. This meant that a special charge conference would need to be called as Jeri's next step.
On March 11th that meeting was held. Jeri again shared her call and passion for ministry, and again faced several questions. The charge conference members then unanimously voted to affirm her call for ministry.
Jeri has sinced learned that the District Board of Ordained Ministry has also approved her to take the next step in this journey.
We are thankful that Jeri has heard God's call to full-time ministry, and we promise to continue giving our prayers, support and encouragement.
Time Change for Traditional Service April 20th
On April 20th the traditional worship service will move from 10:30 to 9:45. This service is an excellent traditional worship service, so if you prefer exceptional organ and choral music this may be the service you want to visit at Church of the Savior.
New Service Launch on April 20th!
Sunday April 20th we are launching a brand NEW worship experience that will be in addition to our traditional service. We invite you to come and share this new event with us.
The new service will begin at 11:15 am. Music leadership will be provided by Tony Watson, Jr. and the praise band Ahavah (Hebrew for Love). It is hard to describe what will take place in this worship. It will be a multi-media interactive experience. We will deal with real questions and real issues that people are facing in today's world.
We hope to see you on April 20th!
Stained Glass Windows Hidden Away In Wall For 80 Years Recently Uncovered! Renovations continue at Church of the Savior…
Imagine our surprise when the workers informed the office that stained glass windows had been discovered in the coat room! That’s right! In the coatroom! When they began to demolish the walls for the installation of the new lift for persons with physical disabilities they discovered stained glass windows behind the walls!
These stained glass windows are set in what was once the back wall of the church. When they added the education wing in the 1920s they simply covered these windows. Those windows had not seen the light of day for the past 80 years!
Thanks to the generosity of one of our members the windows will be professionally removed and cleaned. Once they are restored they will be reset into existing window frames in the west stairwell. Windows that had been shut away by the work of a past renovation project will once again beautify the church with their vibrant colors.
Also found when this was uncovered was a Sunday School bulletin from the early 20’s! Not a “treasure” but certainly an awesome artifact of another era in the life of this church.
