Sports Ministry
Church of the Savior has a nice medium-sized gym just right for volleyball and basketball pick up games.
Currently we are playing Volleyball for adults on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Basketball for youth 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
We look forward to expanding this new ministry area under the guidance of our Sports and Outreach Minister.
- Youth try-outs for high school teens, to participate in the 2008 Christian Fellowship Basketball League in Akron, Ohio.
We have at least 25 young high school men that are coming to try-outs on Friday’s from 5p-6:15p, for our COTS Church Basketball Team. Only 8 will be chosen to make the team. The mission is to develop fellowship in a team ethic, that will empower this team to be positive Christian men, to grow spiritually by attending our church services with their families. Also, to represent this fine church in basketball competition. I stress to the young men that they are to be examples “on and off” the court.
The other responsibility, is to continue to work with the other youth, that are not playing on the basketball team. Involving them in ministry opportunities, that will keep them engaged in giving in service to others and sharing in small groups for bible study and prayer.
Volleyball Ministry
If you are interested in playing volleyball, then we would like to invite you to come and play on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 6:45p-9:00p, here in our gym. This group will now become a part of this sport’s ministry and no longer for “Single’s,” only. It will now be opening up to the church members to join. We will have fun athletic fellowship for adults (over the age of 21) and provide a short devotional and prayer prior to the volleyball activity. This group of adults are very excited about this new fellowship and look forward to getting back in the church and growing together spiritually.
